What to do in Cebu? (City Tour)

This time Cebu City major tourist spot were going to feature the heritage sites, baroque churches and specially new instagramable places. Cebu City is one of the most famous places that you will experience adventure and leisure. Complete package as in, there is so many tourist spot here whether you go South or North. That is why its my 2nd time here to explore I missed during my first Cebu. The Queen City of the South, Cebu was most attribute and rising city in the Philippines. True in many aspects, but many point to the city’s economic growth.

If your looking forward to explore this sites probably rent a car / motorcycle to enjoy more with your love ones. The tourist spots are close to each other in Cebu proper. Now lets find out the history, tourist spots and the beauty of Cebu.

THE PYRAMID

Located at IT PARK in Lahug, Cebu City.

This one is not an art museum but a place for “casual but trendy dining”. Very instagramble place good food and nice place to chill.

Complete with glass panels like the one in the world-famous Louvre in Paris, The Pyramid gives its patrons a taste of the Parisian Life.

YAP-SANDIEGO ANCESTRAL HOUSE

Located Mabini St. 6000 Parian, just across Cebu’s Heritage Monument.

It is one of the oldest houses in the Philippines. Built in the late 17th century, the ancestral house has remained in its original state even though it already shows weather beaten but unyielding structures made of molave and coral stones due to time. This was the house of Don Juan Yap and Doña Maria Florido.

FORT SAN PEDRO

Fuerte de San Pedro is a military defense structure in Cebu, built by the Spanish. It is located in yhe area now called Plaza Indepedencia, in the pier area of the city.

Revisited the past a very educational palce for those who wants to learn the Philippine History. Also a picturesque view.

MIGUEL LOPEZ DE LEGASPI MONUMENT

Located Plaza Independecia, Cebu City.

I agree that the monument itself is less than totally impressive, but if you are interested in the complex history of the Philippines. You cannot miss a look at this memorial to one of its most important early Spanish character, Miguel Lopez de Legaspi.

HERITAGE OF CEBU MONUMENT, MANDAUE CITY, CEBU

Located at Sikatuna St. Cebu City.

The Monument is a tableau of sculptures made of concrete, bronze, brass and steel showing scenes about events and structures related to the history of Cebu.

The structure depicted in the Heritage Monument are the Basilica del Santo Niño, the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral, the Saint John the Baptism Church, the Magellan’s Cross, and a Spanish Galleon.

This monument made me speechless! It was great seeing all of Cebu’s important moments in 10 minutes! I also loved the effect , never seen a 360 degree monument before.

BASILICA MINORE DEL SANTO NIÑO DE CEBU

Located at Pilgrim’s Center, Osmena Boulevard, Cebu City. A very old church symbolizing as well as reminiscing the birth of christianity in the Philippines spread by the Spaniards. Do not miss these landmarks including the Cathedral Museum. If you walk a bit father you will find the Metropolitan Cathedral with its amazing architecture and Magellan Cross monument.

COMMERCIAL BREAK:

Don’t forget to try there best selling street food Lechon Cebu and Puso ‘Rice’ wrapped and boiled in a triangular casing made of woven coconut leaves. Yummmmy!

METROPOLITAN CATHEDRAL AND PARISH OF SAINT VITALIST AND OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION

Located Mabini St. Cebu City. It is an impressive structure and symbolic of the Catholic faith with very good Architecture.

Worth the visit. If your looking to avoid the crowd and just meditate, this is best go to.

FLORES DE MANAOG MUSEUM SHOP

Religious good store.

CEBU CITY HALL

Located Dr. Jose Rizal St. Cebu City. If you in the area would like to stretch legs a bit then, this park is breath of fresh air and the trees help cool you down.

MAGELLAN CROSS

Located at Burgos St. Cebu City.

This spot where Ferdinand Magellan planted a cross in the soil 1521 and claimed the Philippines for Spain. A historical part of Cebu City, Must see spot! A beautiful painting worthy for a few minutes stop.
